Katy Perry claims that the inspiration behind her infamous song “I Kissed a Girl” is the blonde bombshell, Scarlett Johansson. This is what she said in to Steppin’ Out magazine:
“‘I Kissed a Girl’ was inspired when I opened up a magazine and I saw a picture of Scarlett Johansson. I was with my boyfriend at the time, and I said to him, ‘I’m not going to lie: If Scarlett Johansson walked into the room and wanted to make out with me, I would make out with her. I hope you’re okay with that?”
Perry’s father Keith Hudson who is an evangelist, is busy claiming the contrary. He insists that she had a fight with her boyfriend and wrote the song in revenge. He also denies that the song has anything to do with homosexuality. Mother Hudson, on the other hand has heavily criticized the lyrics of the song, calling it “shameful and disgusting”.
Whatever the reason, Perry’s song really hit the spot when it was released some time ago. It bagged the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks, a record held by The Beatles. It also topped the UK singles chart.
Perry, 24, is currently dating Travis McCoy from the band Gym Class Heroes. McCoy recently released a statement defending his girlfriend’s lyrics. Meanwhile, Perry herself has to deny rumours of being a lesbian while admitting that if she had the chance to really kiss a girl, she would choose actress Megan Fox!
